The Green Guardian initiative is a unique partnership between Newsquest South London and South London borough council's commercial businesses and organisations. Launched in 2006, the aim of the project is to recognise and reward those individuals and organisations across south London leading the way in sustaining what is increasingly becoming a threatened world.

Working closely with the School, Sprunt was the architect and landscape architect appointed to design a state-of- the-art, sustainable structure for use by both the school and the community and to create a design which is inspired by and blends with the natural, leafy feeling of the surrounding area.

From inception sustainability for Parish Church School's new facility was high on the agenda. Innovative environmental design solutions to reduce their carbon footprint have been considered at every stage which has resulted in a building which will last from it structure to its finishes.

Careful landscaping complements the architectural language of the building and Sprunt's approach embeds both masses and voids to create unique spaces to be enjoyed by all users. As a result, we consider the building itself as a landscape element while the design of the external spaces are an extrapolation of the building.

The functional design brief has resulted in a hall which will be used by the nursery and breakfast and after school clubs. In addition, the new accommodation will house club and school offices, consultation and interview areas, meeting and training room for teachers, governors meetings and parent workshops.
